John, if the cracks are mostly cosmetic to you, why not just fill them in with some Sta-Brite solder? I know this will offend the purists, but I see that you have the following alternatives:

1. Remove the existing guard, patch it, and then try to get it back on.
2. Order a new guard and hope it fits when it comes.
3. Toss the guard completely
4. Live with the cracks the way they are
5. "Bondo" the cracks with some Sta-Silv (10% Ag, 90% Sn) solder, buff and pretend you never saw the cracks.

Did I miss something?
