OK, so I finally put my money where my mouth was. I have been saying that I think that the new King 2341 is one of the best BBb tubas available, especially for the money, so this week I went to Dillons and bought one. I tried 6 of them, 1 lacquer, 3 bright silver, and 2 satin silver, and picked out a satin silver one. They were very close, but this one spoke easiest for me. I was also surprised that the tuner seemed to be pegged in the center, even the D in the staff and the Eb below the staff. While I was there I also tried a Miraphone 186, Miraphone 191, Conn 5J, and Meinl-Weston 25 and the King was the clear winner for me. If you're in the market for a new BBb tuba definitely try one out.
