Okay, I sense that the Yamaha bashing is about to begin. I play Yamaha horns and love them. I played a 321 in a Brass band in Phoenix last year and liked it alot. The response was good, pitch was exceptionally good, and the valves were great. The only problem I had was that it was easy to overblow. I don't think anyone brings prejudice into an audition. When I listen to auditions, all I care about is how the person plays, not what they play. I have played some $13,000 instruments lately that I wouldn't give a plug nickel for and recently played a sousaphone that was better than my big BBb. Yamaha is a good instrument, don't let the fact that you don't like skew your judgement of how someone sounds on it.
