I like the look of satin silver with bright silver trim(ferrules and such). It also has a functional purpose. The satin finish does not require the intense buffing needed to achieve the bright silver finish, therefore leaving more metal on the horn. The thickness obviously impacts the timbre of the horn and if the horn needs an overhaul in the future, there is more to work with. My $.02
