So what repairman will do the work for "only $300"? The $75 for a couple of dents is reasonable but rarely, in my experience, does that include removing the bottom bow.
In order to drop the bottom bow, remove the dents, strip the lacquer, buff, degrease, and silver plate or lacquer normally costs a bunch more than that. At a wholesale cost it usually costs at least $1000 or more to have an instrument relacquered. The cost of silver plating alone for a tuba is about $500 to $600.
Kindly check again what is going to be done to the instrument.
