This has been an on going subject for orchestras for years and continues to be a problem with no real answer.
For the past few weeks, I have been doing some work for a major league baseball owner who is on a mission to create baseball fans for life after seeing declining attendance at major league ballparks. Sound familiar? I told him that this has been a major problem with orchestras for ages - at first he was surprised to hear this but, after thinking about it realized I had a point. It seems the key is to expose kids to this, either baseball or a symphony.
