A question for you repair pros out there:

It's my custom after removing dents from a bottom bow and cap, to completely tin the mating surfaces of the bow and cap before clamping them together and soldering them, rather than simply applying solder along the edges. It's my feeling that this allows for more sold attachment of the cap to the bow and also retards any corrosion that may develop in the gaps between the bow and the cap.

Does anyone else out there do this? Do you feel that this is a good or a bad practice?
