Your MW 20 should be a good horn. It is a good band horn and a good horn in general if it is a good specimen of the breed. And don't be panicked by CC chauvinism. If you play well on this horn and are comfortable with it, stick with it. However, try several different CC tubas if you can find an opportunity to, and decide whether or not you can play better on one. If you can, and if you can afford it, then switch. Don't be hasty, and don't panic.

The CC vs. BBb debate is decades old, and there are people in all sorts of situations with strongly held opinions in both directions. There are tons of serious tubaists on BBb, CC, Eb, and F tubas who will swear that their opinions are the only relevant ones. Try the horns and make up your own mind. I played BBb horns through college, laid off for over 20 years, recently bought a CC BAT, and am ready to switch back to a 4/4 horn, and I will be happy with BBb or CC either one. Find the horn that works for you, damn the torpedoes, and full speed ahead.
