Every year for the past 5 years I have complained to my local HS Band Director about the way the students carry their sousaphones. This year (with a new Band Director) I actually got the response "well then, why don't you come by and show them the right way".
Wonderful!
Now the problem is that I need quick, easy, and memorable tips on:
a) how to tell if the sousaphone is assembled properly (I think this is
more than half the battle)
b) how to tell if the sousaphone is positioned correctly on the player's body.
So...have at it - how would you use 10 minutes to communicate proper assembly and
positioning? Remember - short, sweet, and memorable.
[Do they even teach this sort of thing in Music Ed classes?]
