"Re-apply the correct key signature" is perhaps better stated as "add three flats to the key signature". But yeah, it works, though accidentals will give you a headache.
Or you can look at it as reading the TC material as concert-pitch TC, and using CC fingerings on a BBb. Solves the accidental headache better.
Or you can just learn to play Bb TC.
