Right on! I don't use these tricks on my "legit" horns, but on Bb Sousaphone in Basketball band, it makes for some interesting licks, once you get the hang of them. Also, it's fun to freak out rookies by dropping things down and otherwise impossible-3-valve octave. I'm glad I'm not the only one who found them. Also, I found that pedal C (1&2) and B nat. (2&3) are the most difficult, but can be achieved with practice.

A lot of tuba players I've run into seem to shun fake pedals, but I think they have their uses; for fun if nothing else. There's an accoustics prof. here that I've been meaning to talk to about these, to see what kind of physics are involved. Oh, well...
