I use the DEG stand. It wasn't my first choice because it does involve balancing the tuba on the stand and this takes some practice. However, once I was completely comfortable playing with the stand I realized the other big benefits it offers. The DEG stand is exceptionally lightweight. They also sell a velvet covered case for the stand so you can fold it up and store it in the bell of the tuba with no fear of damage. This makes the stand very portable. If they have a downside it is that they are a little fragile. There are a couple of parts that will fail easily so I had to learn to be more careful with it and I also bought several for backups. All in all, my opinion is that it is probably the best stand out there when you factor in the convenience it offers.
