I've finally started my Eb to F conversion project and I've gotten a sousaphone valveset for the valves on the tuba. The problem is that the leadpipe knuckle on the sousaphone valveset when put on the tuba faces down, which means I either have to put the tuning slide in the leadpipe or replace the knuckle. Does anyone have any opinions about having the tuning slide in the leadpipe? I don't know of many tubas with this setup, but I've heard many people say that the HB-2 with this setup plays more in-tune than it's straight leadpipe counterpart. Anybody have any suggestions?
