I went to the Shrine Circus on Friday and purposfully sought a seat fairly close to the band. Well.... I THOUGHT I heard a tuba in a couple of the tunes but figured it was probably being done by the keyboard person. I could clearly see four saxes, four trombones, two trumpets, a keyboard person, and a conductor. After moving a bit closer, there in the shadows, I saw IT!!! .... a bass guitar! Good grief! ... firewood with strings on it in the place of a tuba!! EGAD. What's the circus coming to? Is this what I have to look forward to when I don't have the wind to play tuba any more?
