Most everyone's flavor has a touch of "poison" in it...particular when assigned the 30 - 50 most difficult (poorly written?) excerpts for the tuba...the tuba being a "steel drum"-ish instrument...meaning that tubas in general don't lend themselves to being played in tune. Further the tuba, being a contrabass instrument, is just at the "edge" of what a human can control (and again "the list" are those excerpts that least lend themselves to being controlled).

If Mr. Baer hits three for three in a matter of a few months, I would have to assume that his "flavor" has the least amount of "poison" in it.

Again, the expanding interval exercise...WHO can execute it just as I described? Apparently Mr. Baer would stand above all other currently interested parties in coming the closest. "The list" analyzed is at least 95% about "breath control" (the key to all superb wind playing) and very little about facility and range.
