Ummm...the ITEC 2001 competitions were very poorly run and judged, at least on the tuba side. The Artist division judges did not award any winners because, in their minds, no one deserved it. Huh? I was there, and that was a mind blowingly arrogant decision. The youth division judging was pretty bizarre, too.
For many of those involved last year, it really left a "bad taste in the mouth." That, combined with the ridiculously early deadline of January 15 this year, will probably result in a low number of competitors.
Let me put it this way: I did not send a tape, and I have done so in the past. Until ITEC cleans up its competitions and judging problems, I will never again "compete" at ITEC.
